| OBSDFL Referee Achieves 500 Games (and Counting) On Sunday 14th February 2008, Trevor Bailey refereed Defiance v Centresports at HSBC Sports
Club. This was Trevor's 500th game on the O.B.D.S.F.L, which is no mean achievement and only surpassed in
modern times (records don't go back beyond 1971) by Bob Potts who achieved the feat a couple of seasons ago.
Trevor was a player with Defiance and started refereeing on the OBDSFL in 1982 and, apart from a short break
from 1997 to 1999, he has regularly officiated in over 15 games a season. In addition to this, Trevor also
mentors trainee referees on the OBDSFL. OBSDFL Management Committee Members Roger Pester, Ken Chappell and
Robert Bagge were at the game to present Trevor with a set of 6 crystal wine glasses and a bottle of
Chateauneuf Du Pape and a bottle of Rioja as a "thank you" for Trevor and his family from all of the Clubs
and Management Committee of the OBDSFL. Trevor has vowed to surpass Bob's total, but as Bob was Trevor's
assistant a couple of weeks ago, there are no immediate signs of this happening !!! Ken Chappell, Referees Secretary, OBDSFL SPECIAL NOTICE Please note that due to the absence of a number of Management Committee on the
planned date the AGM of Clubs has now been re-scheduled to Monday 7th July, 7.30pm for 8.00pm,
HSBC Sports and Social Club. Please also note that the closing date for New Team Applications to the league was 31st March 2008,
any application submitted now will not be considered. Phil Cheverton, General Secretary, OBDSFL R.E.S.P.E.C.T. On Sunday 9th March 2008, a team of 4 referees, representing the Bromley Branch of the Referees
Association, won through the Southern Area Finals of the Referees Association Quiz at Woking Leisure Centre.
Having previously won through the Kent Finals, they are now to take part in the National Finals in
Coventry on Sunday 27th April 2008 for the first time in Bromley KRA history.
The team of Ian McGrath, Rob Preedy, Trevor Bailey and Paul Chick have experience of over 1,000 games on
the OBDSFL alone and so the next time that you suggest that they "don't know the rules" (they are the
Laws Of Assiciation Football, by the way") you might get a very appropriate reply.
We wish them all the best of luck in Coventry at the end of April.
Ken Chappell, Referees Secretary, OBDSFL
The application date for New Clubs has now past and the succesful teams have been chosen and advised.
As usual, there were significantly more applications than there were spaces available and for all those
teams that have not been accepted or were too late to apply, it is suggested you apply again next year
after 1st January 2009.
